Grand Theft Auto V Review

Grand Theft Auto V is an extremely popular game developed by Rockstar and initially released in 2013. The game has become the most successful in the series, sold in more than 100 million copies and reaching a peak online of 267,000 simultaneous players on Steam.

Gameplay: More activities than ever

The gameplay of GTA V sticks to the traditions of the series: you are free to do whatever you want, as long as the features allow it. You can steal and buy cars, planes or real estate, set up robberies or other criminal activities, or entertain yourself with dozens of miscellaneous activities.

The game has two separate modes: story mode and GTA V Online. In the story mode, you play as one of three characters, created by Rockstar, while in GTA V Online, you create your own char. The story mode is set in the same open world as GTA V Online, but the missions developing the plot are exclusive for a single player.

Graphics: Good for 2013, Not Enough for 2020

As the game was initially released on the eight generation consoles, the graphics might seem a bit outdated. This effect is partially compensated by the style, which does not exactly pursue realism. On PC, the game definitely looks better than on PS3, but it is still a game of 2013. The positive thing here is that the game is compatible with most PCs, and the Rockstar team has put much effort into optimizing it. A stable framerate might be reached even on quite an old PC.

The physics are great, however. Rockstar has managed to find a perfect balance between realism and fun of an arcade: you always know you’re in a game, but you easily accept the local laws of physics. The experience is quite similar to watching a blockbuster action movie.

Controls: Almost Paradise

The controls are similar to almost any third-person shooter. It is not necessary to be familiar with the series to understand how the game and controls work. The game manages to utilize a small number of buttons for a wide variety of actions. Vehicle controls are more similar to an arcade racing game like Need for Speed than to a realistic one like Project Cars.

Conclusion: Must Play

GTA V is one of the most popular videogames in the world. It has been hitting charts since its release in 2013, grabbing more and more attention of players. The developers often release DLC content and hold different in-game events in GTA V Online, making you return to the game over and over.

Cons:

  • Graphics are a bit outdated
  • Connection to GTA V Online is not stable in some countries
  • Servers of GTA V Online are crashing from time to time

Pros:

  • Huge open world with a lot of activities
  • Well-developed story in single-player mode
  • A huge variety of activities in GTA V Online
  • Thrilling action and blockbuster experience
  • Constant flow of DLC’s and events in GTA V Online
