Fortnite Battle Royale Review

Fortnite Battle Royale is an additional game mode for the original Fortnite game released in 2017. The game is available on all platforms, including Android and iOS, and has a total of 350 million players across the globe.

Gameplay: Fast and Furious

The gameplay might seem quite simple in the first place, but do not let the cartoon-styled graphics deceive you: it is harder than any game for children. In Fortnite, you play against dozens of other players on a vast map. Like in any Battle Royale game, you are able to gather loot and shoot your opponents. What makes Fortnite one of the hardest to master online games is the building feature: the most skilled players have learned to build a huge fort around themselves in seconds. There are also no easy wins in Fortnite: the game is over when there is only one player left, so you have to outplay everyone on the island to win.

Graphics: Framerate Over Realism

Visual part of Fortnite is a bit controversial. The game is designed in a cartoon-like style, which some players find unattractive. However, this style allows to run the game almost on any modern device, including Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch. If you are not a fan of realistic graphics, you will most probably be excited by the variety of animations and models available in Fortnite.

Of course, the mobile version is a little less detailed than the PC version, as the power capacity of mobile devices is lower. However, the render distance is long enough to see enemies from far, all the models and skins remain recognizable and the game runs at stable framerate.

Controls: Gamepad Only

From our point of view, controls are the weakest point of Fortnite Battle Royale for Android and iOS. Most players will find it hard to aim and run at the same time, and it is impossible to master quick building with sensor controls. The only solution we recommend is to connect a gamepad to your mobile device. This is still less comfortable than using a mouse and a keyboard, but is quite a fair compromise for mobile gaming.

Conclusion: Victory Royale

Fortnite Battle Royale is one of the best games available on smartphones. It is extremely dynamic and addictive, while the games are not very long. What’s even better, Fortnite has a crossplay feature, which allows you to cooperate with friends from other platforms. The only disadvantage of the mobile version is the controls, but the problem is solved with a simple gamepad connected to the smartphone.

  • Sensor controls are hard and inconvenient
  • Graphics are a bit worse than on other platforms
  • The game files can take several gigabytes of spare memory

  • Addictive gameplay
  • Vast map with various landscapes
  • Crossplay allowing to cooperate between all platforms
  • Stylish graphics and visual effects
  • Free to play, microtransactions do not affect gameplay
